Vintage American Navajo Rug in Storm Warrior Design in turquoise, Pink, Magenta

About the Item

Vintage Native American Navajo Rug in a Storm Warrior Design in turquoise, Pink, and Brown Colors. The Navajo rug was hand-woven in the SW United States and is from the mid 1900s. This rug has a very unique and wonderful color combination including blue, magenta, pink, yellow, and ivory. The blue could be from an exhausted vat of indigo but most likely not as the blue is faded in areas and indigo does not fade. The storm pattern composition is quite beautiful and the water bugs are quite nice. Overall it is a really fun mid-century piece. Navajo rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
