Vintage Southwestern Kilim Area Rug in Ivory and Brown

About the Item

Vintage American Southwestern kilim area rug in ivory and brown colors circa the 20th century. The Southwestern kilim was woven as two separate pieces as is the custom for larger size kilims. The kilim rug is finely woven and could be used on the floor or would also be a great wall art or tapestry. Navajo and Southwestern United States rugs are generally flat woven with wool for the body of the rug and usually cotton foundation. Navajo weavers use natural organic dyes that are available around their tribal land. The Navajo rugs have geometric designs and the design and symbols have religious and cultural meanings.
