1950s Vintage Persian Mahal Modern Overdye 7x10 Purple Handmade Area Rug
About the Item
Ashly Fine Rugs presents a Vintage Persian Mahal Modern Overdye 7x10 Purple Handmade Area Rug. Originating from the Mahallat region of Persia (Central Iran), Mahal rugs are widely sought after by interior designers and connoisseurs alike thanks to their free yet playful designs, which are complementary with the majority of home interiors. Some might mistake a Mahal rug for a Sultanabad Rug because of the very similar design and look, and that is because Mahals were actually Sultanabad-inspired creations made many years later after the originals. Made with all vegetable-dyed, handspun wool and entirely handwoven. The pile of the rug is 1/4in. This rug had most of its original colors intentionally washed out to be overdyed in purple to give you this unique look on a vintage Persian rug. The blue color used within the design and around the border stayed intact throughout the process, and also some areas where the overdye didn't fully hold shows a sandy yellow color. Nonetheless, an excellent piece for a living room, bedroom, office, or wherever its beauty is desired.
