Truly a masterpiece of Persian 19th-century weaving. Breathtakingly beautiful. An allover pattern of trees set in an abrash royal blue background. What makes this rug very unique and highly desirable among Kerman Lavar rugs is its dimensions. It has a rare width and its length brings the rug into a “near square” size Multiple borders with wonderful design. Includes the weaver's signature. The village Lavar is near the city of Kerman on the edge of the great desert in South East Persia. The Kerman Lavar carpets are world-renowned for their beauty in design and colors used which this carpet well represents. The carpet still retains its beauty after over 120 years of use. The village of Kerman is located at the edge of the great desert in SE Persia and was on the ancient silk road. It is known for some of the most beautiful and colorful rugs that were woven in Persia. The weavers used the color and flower designs in rugs to bring some color and nature’s beauty to the dry desert environment that they lived in. The rug has a wonderfully large format geometric pattern on an abrash navy blue color background. The field is framed with a colorful border set in red color with geometric designs in blue, pink, pale yellow, green, red, and brown connected via straight lines. The corner spandrels are also in a rust-red color with a Herati design in baby blue, pink, green, and red. Because of its special size and design, it would be a great addition as a library rug or as a gallery/ corridor rug.
