About the Item
This antique saddlebag with Soumak and Bakhtiari Persian carpet weaves circa 1890 exhibits a colorful display of classic tribal geometric designs. The deep reds and blues contrast with cream outlines to create a unique interpretation of the "posht-i” saddlebag in a combination flat-weave and hand-knotted pile design. This carpet consists of pure handspun wool and organic vegetable dyes. The size is 4' x 8', and it is in good antique condition.
