Antique 1910s Persian Chahal Shotor Bakhtiari Rug, 4' x 7'
About the Item
This 1910 Bakhtiari rug from the village of Chahal Shotor consists of a cotton warp and handspun wool weft and hand-knotted pile. Its beautiful bright colors are derived from organic vegetable dyes, and include blues, reds, golds, pinks and greens. The design is improvisational and thus communicates the artistic expression of the weaver through its original garden design. The shaping of the diamonds as well as the flowers are rather unique and complement the balanced contrast between the rug's motifs and its background. This rug measures 4'4" x 6'11" and is in excellent antique condition.
