About the Item

This carpet is an excellent example of Luri tribal weaving, with three linked medallions on a dark indigo blue field. The carpet is completely covered with tribal design elements including birds, animals, people, urns, flowers, shrubs, trees and stars. The main ivory ground border is superbly drawn with birds and flowers. The carpet has slight even wear with good pile, the wool quality and colours are outstanding. note the original end finishes at the lower end. The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use. A truly outstanding example of 19th century tribal weaving.
