About the Item
Oushak rugs, also known as Usak rugs, are a type of hand-woven rug that originated in the town of Oushak (Usak) in western Turkey. They are highly regarded for their unique designs, soft color palettes, and luxurious feel. Oushak rugs have a rich history dating back centuries and are considered to be one of the finest and most desirable types of Turkish rugs.
One of the distinctive features of Oushak rugs is their loose and open weave, which gives them a luxurious and plush feel underfoot. They are often characterized by a relatively low knot count compared to other types of rugs, which contributes to their unique texture and aesthetic appeal.
Oushak rugs have been highly valued and sought after by collectors and interior designers around the world for their timeless beauty and versatility. They can complement a wide range of interior styles, from traditional to contemporary, and add warmth and elegance to any space. The craftsmanship and artistic heritage of Oushak rugs make them cherished pieces of art.
This most unusual moderately coarse town carpet features a five by nine gridwork on the straw field of alternating X-shaped motives and rosette-centered roundels, in a light/dark allover design. At each field end is a half height row of these elements. Clearly the pattern is infinite, especially in the long direction. The rusty-apricot masin border shows eccentric palmettes.
