About the Item
"Calla Field Study" carpet or wall tapestry by EJR Barnes in collaboration with Shame Studios. One edition of this carpet is available now, in 84” W x 112” H, and forward editions can be made to order in custom sizes, with shipping in 14 to 16 weeks.
This modern, unique and evocative rug design is interpreted in wool according to time honored Persian hand-knotting techniques. Meticulous hand-dyeing of the yarn produces complexity and depth, enriching the overall character of the carpet, and heightening the illusion of a three-dimensional single Calla Lily positioned asymmetrically on a dove grey square, centered inside a soft peach-colored background with a sharp vermillion red pinstripe border. A subtle but striking detail is a signature line in the artist's own hand placed at bottom left.
About the Artist:
Elliot ‘EJR’ Barnes (b. 1991) is an artist and designer based in East London. Known for romantic yet pragmatic works, his auto-didactic practice is elegantly non-conformist, unbound by the emotional barriers of a formal training and somewhat undefined, existing in the gray area between decorative art and industrial design.
