About the Item

In warm and inviting hues of cream, soft blue, orange, red, gold, and indigo, this hand-knotted carpet features a classic Persian Bakhtiari design and belongs to the Orley Shabahang Transitional Collection. Measuring 9’10” x 13’8”, this carpet features a hand-spun wool pile, organic vegetable dyes, and a cotton warp and weft foundation. Pulling inspiration from centuries of classic Bakhtiari carpets, the design illustrates a garden scene composed of lozenges detailed with floral and Tree of Life motifs. Acting as a storyboard, each lozenge plays a different part and gives the viewer a glimpse into a scenic past. Floral motifs beside small, outstretched garlands decorate an exterior border that represents the walkway around the garden. With a timeless design and soothing tones, this transitional Bakhtiari carpet will find its place in any home.
