About the Item

With a cool gray background detailed with orange peacocks, this contemporary carpet, titled Marching Flock, measures 9’ x 12’ and belongs to the Orley Shabahang Animal Collection. Inspired by Persian Qashqai tribal patterns, Marching Flock's repetitive design features small peacock motifs detailed in orange wool. Lead designer, Bahram Shabahang, loved the simplicity and playfulness of the tribal peacock and rearranged its scale and placement of it into an all-over contemporary design. One thing to note about Marching Flock is its beautiful gray striations within the carpet’s background. Weavers hand-spin multiple strands of wool fibers into heaps of yarn, and when dyed, the wool absorbs the dyes in different amounts. When knotted and cut to the cotton foundation, the pile presents these varying levels of gray wool, producing a beautiful abrash effect. Completed in Orley Shabahang’s Cheshmeh weave, Marching Flock's pile is soft, luxurious, and durable, ideal for the most active parts of your home.
