About the Item

In soft and contrasting shades of gray hand-spun wool, this contemporary Persian carpet titled "Badu" measures 8’11” x 12’5” and belongs to the Orley Shabahang Dream Collection. Inspired by the traditional Australian Aboriginal Dreamtime paintings, Badu's abstract and asymmetrical design creates a balanced and inviting sensation. Nearly imitating the structural outlines of a cell underneath a microscope, dark gray outstretched lines, detailed by layered and varying shades of gray circular motifs make up Badu's design. With Badu's gray detailing creating the perfect contrast, this piece will bring light to a space and would thrive on dark floors. Constructed using the Orley Shabahang Cheshmeh weave, this piece was created using traditional Persian weaving techniques, and composed of hand-spun wool, hand-knotted onto a cotton foundation. And because of its versatile color palette and functional 9' x 12' size, this carpet is durable for generations of everyday use and will find its place in any space or home.
