Vintage Shahsavan Persian Kilim in Red and Blue Stripes with Multicolor Patterns

About the Item

This vintage 6x9 Persian Kilim is a mid-century piece believed to be a Shahsavan tribal rug. Handwoven in wool, it originates circa 1950-1960 and enjoys an interesting play of styles like few in its provenance. Further on the Design: Connoisseurs may note this design most likely represents a Shilaki Kilim—a distinct Persian weaving style, and one of the few in which tribal weavers would combine multiple flat weaves and into one. This particular Kilim enjoys a traditional play of rich maroon red and blue stripes, though its variety of vibrant colors and geometric patterns embroidered above is especially rare. It’s a personal piece with a sense of whimsy that beautifully represents the charm in nomadic Persian folk art, yet also a comfortable rug with a versatile size that offers vast design applications. Further on the Condition: This mid-century Persian tribal Kilim further enjoys good condition for its origin, and is ready for the floor.
