Rare Vintage Swedish 'Townhouse' Rug
Size: 5'3" × 7'10" (160 × 238 cm).
This vintage Swedish pile area rug dates back to around 1950, just when Scandinavian design was experiencing a flourishing of new ideas. Here, we can see a bespoke beige border with dark dots running along the perimeter and a short tassel fringe on the shorter edges. The main field introduces more color diversity, with pinecone-like brown, gold, gray, orange and purple shapes on a blue field. A lighter tone of beige was used to make a thin border for the blue main field, and vertical lines of this shade of beige also cross the main field.
