About the Item

19th Century Turkish Oushak Carpet ( 12'4" x 23'7" - 375 x 718 ) Inspired by classical Persian carpets, this clearly special order west Anatolian carpet shows a tall, stepped hexagonal sienna medallion enclosing a layered strapwork, with yellow cartouche and sienna shield pendants on a spruce green, abrashed ground decorated with cypresses, bare trees and copious flowering stems. The unusual reciprocal border shows a lappet pattern in sienna and green. Unique look, great size, almost a gallery carpet.
