About

The Tulus come from the highlands of central Anatolia. Village rugs, which are born in the looms of families, are characterized by a long fleece and a shiny and durable wool. Abstract and essential motifs are decorated. They are not born to be sold on Western markets, but to provide a bed on which to sleep and cover up on cold nights. Thus the simple and schematized drawings are based on magic symbols intended to provide protection, abstract and essential motifs. Some refer to the motifs of the tribal tradition, others are of pure invention. This one we present has a checkered design, very ancient theme that we find in many carpets of nomadic culture. A theme that is a kind of meditation in this endless repetition. The colors are natural and extracted from locally found products. Interesting the inclusion of different colors in some squares, as a sort of blessing.
