Antique Formal Sivas Carpet, circa 1930s
About the Item
This reasonably finely woven eastern Turkish town carpet is definitely in the Tabriz style with rust, dark brown, cream as the important colors. The salmon-rust shaped field centres a layered umber and ivory arabesque medallion structure while the straw corners show larger split arabesques. An inner rust border features a carnation scroll while a larger stripe has palmettes in lobed reserves.
