This hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Heriz design rug features a large octofoil center medallion with flaming palmette pendants floating on an abrashed brick red and terra cotta striated field. A variety of botanical motifs radiate outwards from the medallion in an intricate display of rectilinear vinery, buds, blooms, lanceolate leaves and small rosettes. Large palmettes and swirling floral vinery decorate the corner spandrels. A classic Herati main border with samovar-shaped palmettes, along with delicate floral meander secondary borders, elegantly frame the composition, pulling together colors from throughout into a unified, harmonious design. With its bold design and rustic color palette based around warm earthy tones and pastel shades, this antique Turkish rug would be a stylish and elegant addition to any interior.
