This elegant carpet was woven by hand in Turkey in the 1890s. It is an Ushak rug, Ushak or Oushak carpets are named after the city of Usak, one of the larger towns of Anatolia, a major centre for rug production. Ushak rugs frequently feature family designs with floral and tribal motifs and medallions often woven within the designs.
This piece has been woven with a rich red background and deep blue accents that make up the bold repeating medallion patterns. Intricately woven with delicate designs this piece is sure to make the perfect accent accessory for any home. Woven with fine, locally sourced hand-spun wool and cotton that have been dyed with organic dyeing techniques.
