Antique Turkmen Rug with a Rust Field and a Wide Main Border
About the Item
This Tekke tribal rug displays five columns of quartered emblematic ovoid tribal guls, with cruciform lozenge Kurbaghe minors set between, all on a red-rust ground. The wide main border is also in red and shows rayed, stellate medallions, enclosing crosses. At the ends are extra panels (elems) with close patterns of fringed, oblique bars forming lozenges. Wool construction.
