Extremely Decorative Antique Turkish Oushak Rug, Country Of Origin / Rug Type: Turkish Rugs, Circa Date: 1900. Size: 11 ft x 15 ft 3 in (3.35 m x 4.65 m) Inviting, honeyed warmth dominates this antique Turkish rug, which is emblazoned with an attractive floral design. A four-petaled flower features at the center, a layered figure that belies the initial simplicity. A slim wreath encircles this small form and several leaves and budding steams grow around and away, establishing a design that is symmetrical around both major axes. The unfurling leaves and vines extend out to brush against other flowering decorations, which are delicately detailed with wheaten hues against a blued steel-gray backdrop. A ropy, orange bar edges the complex blooms of the inner area, balancing the light ornaments with the darkest tones present in the Oushak rugs. A gently contrasting, pale yellow band follows, wound with angular leaves and curling tendrils. The widest border of this antique rug, in the midst of the elaborate set, is laden with slim fronds and large blossoms.
