Ki no2 Rug by Studio Marmi / Hand tufted wool contemporary rug

About the Item

Ki collection was created by Studio Marmi, an award winning design studio based in Istanbul. Named after the word “Ki” for Earth in the Sumerian language, and inspired by the architectural heritage of ancient Mesopotamia, the hand-tufted wool rug collection creates a contemporary language that takes reference from colors, textures and geometric motifs widely used in the region. With its high and low fibers, and layered look and feel, the Ki no2 Rug has a sculptural quality to it and draws its graphic inspiration from architecture of the ancient Mesopotamia. Studio Marmi is committed to use locally sourced natural wool as main fiber for this collection in order to reduce the environmental impact. We work with traditional craftsmen and weavers to create sustainable livelihoods for small local economies. Custom dimensions and colors are available upon request.

  • Yakamoz No 4 Contemporary Modern Kilim Rug, Wool Handwoven Butterscotch-Harvest
    By Fulden Topaloglu, Studio Kali
    Located in Istanbul, TR
Yakamoz No 4 kilim rug is part of a series of kilims that take their inspiration from the poetry of light reflections on the sea surface. The abstract patterns, which are reminiscent of alternating color transitions created by reflected light, are handwoven into these kilims by Anatolian weavers. The name Yakamoz is a special Turkish word meaning bioluminescence, describing the beautiful sight of the moonlight shining over the surface of the sea. Yakamoz is a collection of kilim rugs that reinterpret centuries old craft traditions of Anatolian kilim weaving with a modern, artisanal and sensual design approach. Inspired by the legendary sight of the reflected moonlight over the Agean Sea, Yakamoz collection establishes a contemporary expression at the intersection of design, craft and art. The collection brings a piece of Agean coastal nature and spirit to the everyday life of interiors. Yakamoz Kilim Collection received EDIDA - Elle Decoration International Design Awards in 2020, in Turkey and International Iron A' Design Award in 2021. Yakamoz kilims are handwoven by skilled Anatolian weavers based on kilim weaving technique (flat-weave) using 100% Anatolian sheep...
