This hand knotted wool contemporary Oushak style rug features an all-over floral pattern spread across an abrashed purplish plum colored field. A variety of large open flower blossoms in an array of colors are scattered throughout the field in a vivid display of artistic expression. Each palmette takes on a different shape, ranging from more realistic to highly abstract. The wide main border echoes the palmette motifs from the field, appearing in a stylized Herati motif. Unassuming trefoil calyx guard borders add a touch of simplicity, offsetting the bold designs of the rest of the composition. The striking poly-chromatic color palette enhances the already spirited design. Though vibrant, the softened hues are playful and inviting, but never overwhelming.
