Red Antique Oushak Carpet, circa 1920s
About the Item
On a Turkey red field, are set five columns of hooked palmettes alternate with Yaprak (Leaf) verticals in a pattern derived from 18th century Smyrna Oushak carpets. The light green border displays octagon rosettes and bent hyacinth sprays. The condition is very good, with solid pile everywhere and well-preserved, but not sharp, colors. Characteristic of quality workshop Oushak weaving.
