Vintage Flat-Weave Turkish Wool Tulu Rug, 1950-1970
About the Item
This is a semi-antique Turkish “Tulu” rug woven circa 1950 - 1970 and measures 142 x 123 cm in size. In the Turkish language, the term “Tulu” means “hairy” and in the instance of this rug, the term was incorporated because of the long shaggy pile that was used to weave these textiles. In this specific example, the weaver has used three panels of colors to create this rug. The outer two panels have been died within indigo blue color while the center panel incorporates a blood-red color. this rug uses mostly a flat-weave technique and incorporates long shaggy piled knots Evenly spaced between each other. Even though this rug does not use many piled knots the few that it has created a dramatic 3D type effect against the flat-weave background. This rug is in overall great condition and has been professionally cleaned.
