Vintage Midcentury Tulu Red and White Wool Rug

About the Item

Originating from Turkey in 1950, this vintage midcentury wool rug employs a Classic Tulu design with its own distinguishing geometric element. Hand knotted in especially thick wool pile, Tulu rugs were known for Minimalist colors and texturally shaggy pieces serving a Dual purpose to protect from cold. This piece in particular embodies its own take on the popular patchwork design among Tulu rugs, forgoing the typically perfect repetition by dividing its field design with three finely woven geometric lines; both emphasizing the lack of formula to the pink, red, gray, yellow, blue, and orange hues as well as uniquely incorporating the multi-color fringes into the pattern.
