51442 Vintage Turkish Oushak Rug with Mid-Century Modern Style. This hand-knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features three vertical columns each filled with four cruciform cross-motifs dotted with ancient Anatolian symbols. The hexagonal shaped columns are outlined with a latch-hook edge. It is enclosed with a repeating Elibelinde border flanked with an inner barber pole guard stripe. The Classic Elibelinde motif, also known as the “hands on hips” or goddess motif, is thought to represent motherhood and fertility while ram’s horns represent masculinity and power. The fertility bereket motifs that appear combine the symbols of both man and woman, often referred to as ram’s Horn and hands-on-hips motifs, into one design with a diamond in the centre. Lavish waves of abrash sweep across the ruby red field adding depth. Perfect for a bedroom, living room, private Chambers, front room, great room, state room, home office, studio, study, loft, lounge, private library, parlor and formal sitting room.
