About the Item

Large, round antique high pile Savonneries carpets are rare. The four-layer round medallion shows a rosette, laurel leaves and ribbons, and loops, on a tan ground decorated with basket-bouquets and flowering garlands. Densely packed wreaths punctuate the composite vegetal border. The border seems more raised, the field lower. Gold, cream and rust are among the many detail tones on this clearly unique antique Savonnerie carpet for a very special room.
