About the Item
"Kama" is a luxury rug with a sumptuous and wild hand-woven weave in viscose fiber.
"Kama" was introduced by G.T.DESIGN in 2001 revolutionizing the contemporary rug industry and becoming part of the history of design. The first rug to use a sumptuous and wild hand-woven viscose fiber, Kama captures the light and let it fluctuate on its weave.
A design of Deanna Comellini, the groundbreaking rug features the highest quality of the reflective fiber to create a thick yarn with a unique brilliance, softness and color depth. The dope dyed yarn is hand weaved on traditional looms and cut in irregular technique, making the luxurious rug so seductive that it is named after the Indian God of Love.
Bringing a sensorial feel to interior design, "Kama" takes center stage in any space, shifting the perception of rug design from accessory to essential element in interior design. A timeless favorite of star architects and included in prominent design brands project, "Kama" is offered in a wide range of sizes and vibrant colors. It remains a bestseller and a trendsetter to this day and is considered a modern day classic.
Viscose is soft, shiny and velvety like silk as well as very resistant. In the color Deep Blue (Blu Profondo) it creates surfaces of great visual impact that are pleasant to the touch.
Viscose is obtained from cellulose, therefore it is a naturally derived fibre classed as artificial (not synthetic). The material has excellent properties, it is anti-static and biocompatible. "Kama" is entirely hand-woven on traditional looms and maintains all the characteristics of natural products.
The softness of these rugs makes the "Kama" collection ideal for all kinds of environments, from the living room to the bedroom.

About the designer:
Deanna Comellini is an artist and a designer.
For over 40 years, she has experimented by combining craftsmanship and industrial design while working first on product design and later on textiles. She has developed the notion of ‘imperfect design’, highlighting the minor flaws of materials and handmade products that make them unique and one-of-a-kind. In the 1990s, she focused on the concept of the contemporary rug and natural materials while innovating the industry with a new textile for interior design. In 1977, she founded G.T.DESIGN taking on the role of Creative Director. She participated in prestigious international exhibitions and collaborated with important architectural figures, including Toyo Ito and the Zaha Hadid Architects studio.
