About the Item

Space and time in the ideas of designer Mike Shilov The inspiration of Italian architecture is embodied in La Scala hand-knotted rug collection. The cross-cutting subject of the series is graphics reminiscent of construction drawings. Architecture is three-dimensional art, so the image, drawn in thin lines, bursts into the abstract depth of space. The background, or rather the surroundings, is a painting, whose texture is reminiscent of extant antique mural painting. Designer Mike Shilov, the author of the collection: 'I found inspiration in the hues of the frescoes in Pompeii, sometimes faded, sometimes surprisingly bright, in Mark Rothko's exciting paintings, in everything that has stood the test of time.' Hand weaving: from practicality to the creation of a piece of art The color scheme of the rug, consisting of pastel shades of gray and sand, due to its neutrality, occupies a color niche in the interior without changing its accents. The pattern located on the edge of the cloth has a steady rhythm that gives the composition a solemn and measured feel. The symbolism of obelisks, the monuments intended to depict moments of glory and valor, is also in tune with this. The texture of the carpet has a special artistic expressiveness. The expression that is absent on the color level, passes entirely to the nature of pile. Acting as strokes in an oil painting, sections of knots of wool and silk fibers create a play of light on the surface. This hand-woven rug is inspired by the classical architecture of the Renaissance and are carefully crafted to reflect the beauty and harmony of this timeless style. A team of dedicated designers and colorists spent six months perfecting each rug of this collection, and they were expertly hand-knotted by skilled masters in Nepal. This rug is not only a functional and stylish addition to any home, but it is also a unique and exquisite work of art that will be treasured for years to come. The Roma Camouflage rug, with its neutral pastel shades of gray and sand, is a versatile and elegant choice for the most sophisticated requirements.
