About the Item
European Fleur De Lys Rug, circa 1900
The Fleur-de-Lys, Symbol of Royalty :
The King's Pavilion under the Ancien Régime. The flag of the Kingdom of France generally includes three fleur-de-lys, evoking the Holy Trinity as well as the theological virtues (faith, hope, charity). He thus recalls the duties of the sovereign towards his kingdom and that of his submission to divine authority.
Elegant diagonal stripes of Lys de France (fleur-de-lis) adorn the cream background of this rug. The gold color associated with the cream background has a remarkable chromatic impact.
