18th Century Gripsholm Armchairs

About

Good pair of 18th century Swedish Rococo Gripsholm armchairs with accompanying stool, circa 1775. The armchairs got its name from the Gripsholm castle when the king Gustav III decorated most of the bedrooms with this model of armchair in the late 18th century. Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa's castle, as it was he who built the castle on the shores of Lake Mälaren in 1537.
