A superb early Regency period library bergère armchair in mahogany, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster and London. English, circa 1810 This fine and traditional model of the generously proportioned Classic Gillow bergère features the straight back along with the tableted seat rails and typical Gillow reeded leg. The use of blind-caning is quite rare and points out to a very high quality piece, which supports the attribution. Made of Fine quality mahogany throughout, which has patinated to a pleasing warm color. Traditionally horsehair-stuffed squab brown leather cushions. Dimensions: Height 37.75 in / 96 cm Width 26 in / 66 cm Depth 30 in / 76 cm Seat height (with cushion) 18.5 in / 47 cm Seat depth (with cushion) 18 in / 46 cm Seat depth (without cushion) 23 in / 58 cm.
