A good pair of library bergère armchairs of the Regency Period Attributed to Gillows Constructed in Honduras mahogany, rising from brass castor shod feet, the front legs ring-turned and tapering, having reeded downswept arms and a conforming toprail; the seat, sides and backs with double caning, with black leather seat squab, armrests, and back. Circa 1815 A closely related pair of armchairs, stamped Gillows, sold at Sotheby's, London, for £83,650 (Sotheby's London, 4 July 2002, lot 153).
