About the Item

Extraordinary and very rare example of Fritz Gross´s "Sitzmaschine", literally translated "seating machine". A timeless designed 20th century armchair, veneered in fantastic looking palisander. Fritz Gross (1895 -1969) was an Austrian architect, painter and artist who´s works can be found for example in the Albertina, Belvedere and museums in Vienna, Poland or London. This exceptional seating machine armchair was made around 1935 and comes in breathtaking o verall original condition. Even the gorgeous upholstery in this unique green and yellow tone as well as the comfortable spring core with horsehair are still the originals! This exclusive seating item is more than just a piece of furniture, it is a piece of art - and a pretty comfortable on top. The backrest can be easily adjusted to three different fixed positions on the back - see pictures #4, #8 & #9. The perfect place for reading a good book or just relaxing from a hard working day. (Attention please: the last position can cause you to spontaneously falling asleep:) Due its extraordinary design with modern, straight shaped lines this early midcentury armchair is multiple useable because it fits very well to many different interior designs. Another really rare seating piece in our very well handselected collection of valuable masterpieces.
