This is an antique carved throne chair. A Scottish, oak carver elbow chair with Gothic Revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1890. Delightfully carved chair, with distinguished Gothic motif throughout Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order Select oak shows deep caramel hues and fine grain interest Of low profile, with a tall back rest - offers a comfortable seat height of 42cm (16.5") Profusely carved back rest with pierced fretwork Dome top with plume of feather's motif, framed by flowing scrolled mounts Open back rest with fanned feather detail and geometric shapes Serpentine arms of stout proportion, the knuckle decorated with scroll detail Broad, flat seat squab narrowly set within the carved frame rail Fascinating cupped knees with foliate detail carvings Turned baluster legs intersect a fascinating X-stretcher base with turned finial Standing upon a quartet of turned bun feet This is a fascinating antique carved throne chair, with wonderful Gothic Revival overtones to the profusely decorated frame. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
