Antique French Carved Oak Throne Arm Chair Barley Twist Renaissance Louis XIII ~Direct from France~ ~Large antique French carved oak “throne” arm chair, with stunning carved features~ ~High carved upper crown features a dimensional carved Mother bird with outstretched wings, and her baby, sitting with open mouth, in the nest, surrounded by fruits and foliate (amazing details)~ ~Large up finials above carved blocks and barley twist posts to either side~ ~Open carved splat has twisted vines, fruit and floral design that continue into the lower back~ ~Large sweeping carved arms supported by barley twist posts, having dimensional carved lion heads with brass rings in mouth~ ~Original cane on the carved beveled edge chair seat~ ~Carved foliate detail to the front apron~ ~Barley twist legs, barley twist stretcher and cross stretcher~ ~Solid, heavy and strong, well built by craftsmen of the period~ ~c1900~ Measurements 50.5”height x 28” x 24”. 17.25”approx. seat height. 18.5” across upper back.
