If in formal events the “smoking” is sometimes required as a standardizing symbol of industrial society, the "No Smoking" alludes to the informality of a man who is looking for his way of being, without rejecting the society he comes from but, instead , doing the next step towards the future, “The Future”. In fact, the collection maintains the serial nature of the industry, giving it back the energy of the handmade, in a process that we like to call Post-industrial. The production was born in 2012 in Lecce from the artistic and craft skills of Andrea Epifani. 2016, the No Smoking chair enters the prestigious Compasso d'Oro selection. 2022, the project was further developed involving Braungart Epea (Germany). Professor and Chemist Michael Braungart, theorist of the Cradle to Cradle © approach, is firmly convinced that humans can help the environment by redesigning industrial production. From this collaboration, a material was born that, in addition to being recycled, is completely implementable in nature, leaving a positive contribution in terms of organic nutrition. No Smoking The Future has developed two production lines: for the shells of the seats and for all suspensions, the material is placed manually on molds and is therefore the constituent part of the object; for the remaining collection, the material is spread, again manually, in sheets of a few millimeters thick for the creation of finishing covers which will then be applied to various furnishing accessories.
