About the Item
The Armchair features leather webbing made from hand-cut and dyed bridal leather, with burnished edges and an oil finish. The frame is made from solid black walnut, with the vertical load being supported by a strong 3 way bridal joint at the base of the backrest.
This is a wonderfully comfortable armchair that has generous proportions and ergonomic support for all day comfort as a relaxing chair to lounge in or as a task chair.
The leather is soft enough to provide comfort while being thick enough to retain it’s shape over time. The frame is handmade using intricate and complex joinery that is a stand out feature. This style of joinery and design are typical of my work that celebrates the construction and joinery by making them an integral part of the final shape and aesthetic.
The chair is shown in Black Walnut and can be ordered custom in White Oak, White Ash, Black Walnut or Maple. Lead time on custom orders is 12 weeks.

Darmanin Furniture is designed and hand-crafted in East Hampton Springs, New York. We provide custom and semi-custom furniture for residential and commercial clients who are interested in sculptural pieces that can live and function in their spaces. Our approach to furniture design shares with traditional Japanese makers a respect for the materials, joinery and structural components as an integral and visible part of the finished piece. We combine this with our own aesthetic and graphic-design background to create furniture unique to the studio that displays striking geometry, visual balance and composition. We specialize in natural materials, using solid hard-woods, shoji paper, danish cord, vegetable tanned leather and oil finishes. We favor American grown lumber such as white oak, black walnut, white ash, maple and cherry. Our portfolio of designs include: Armchairs, bed frames, benches, cabinets, coffee tables, desks, dining chairs, dining tables, lamps, mirrors, side tables and stools.
