A chic, rare, and unusual pair of circa 1800 Baltic Directoire style armchairs or fauteuils of both klismos and curule variant form, the solid mahogany frames gilt-metal rosette mounted with upholstered cupped seats and finely carved and ebonized rosette arm terminals and ball-and-eagle-claw front feet.
Condition notes: Historical repairs; age shrinkage including one chair with a slightly canted crest-rail and shallower depth; both present together beautifully and is not untypical for construction type and age.
