About the Item

Elegant French armchair in carved and painted wood, dating from the late 18th century. This refined seat embodies the Louis XVI style, with its oval medallion back, straight armrests ending in scrolls, and fluted tapering legs. The frame retains traces of its original black painted finish with gilt highlights, now worn to a richly distressed surface that reveals the passage of time. ReUpholstered in natural linen with exposed nailhead trim, the seat and back offer a clean contrast to the timeworn patina of the wood. The reverse still shows its traditional jute lining, a testimony to its authentic construction. Decorative and versatile, this fauteuil combines neoclassical elegance with lived-in character, ideal for refined interiors, historic settings, or eclectic design schemes.
