Danish art and craft armchair, stained pine and cord, first part of last century
About the Item
Danish armchair in stained pine with woven cord seat. Handcrafted in the first part of the 20th century in good condition and unrestored. Pegged assembly, beautiful patina, cord in good condition for everyday use. The armchair tilts slightly backwards when viewed in profile. On the top of the backrest is a mysterious symbol made up of triangles forming stars. The points formed by the intersection of the triangles are coloured red and black. This strongly resembles a geometric symbol, probably associated with numerology or geonumerology, perhaps the Tetractys of Pythagoras? A mystery yet to be discovered !

Vintage Danish Glass Vase by Per Lutken for Holmegaard in 1960s
By Per Lutken for Holmegaard
Located in SAINT-YRIEIX-SUR-CHARENTE, FR
Glass vase (H:25cm), design by Per Lutken (1916-1998), published by the famous Danish glassworks Holmegaard. The bluish tone, the thickness of the glass visible at the top is an integral part of the design of this vase, dated and signed underneath.
Per Lutken was a famous Danish glassmaker who joined Holmegaard in 1942 and worked there until his death. He contributed to the revival of the glass industry, which was running out of steam at the time, by bringing his pure and timeless style, which has become a classic of Scandinavian design and can be found in many Danish and Swedish homes. He was very productive and for decades created numerous models that made the glassware industry successful in Denmark and around the world. The Holmegaard factory was founded in 1823 in Næstved, southwest of Copenhagen, and started its activity by manufacturing green and brown bottles, and later turned to art glass. Count Christian Conrad Danneskiold-Samsøe bought the Holmegaard estate and realised that the local peat could be used as fuel. He asked the Danish king...
