About the Item

Luxurious 19th century French Empire, Napoleon III period, 1852-1870, satinwood gilt bronze mounted desk chair. Fine hand chased figural bronze mounts depicting classical maidens at the arm rests, rosettes, laurel leaf garlands and paw front sabots.. Exceptionally comfortable, spring upholstered seat, generous back and arm rests. Very good condition, reupholstered, good preservation to gilding with wear commensurate with age.

Each composed of a circular reeded plinth topped with a handsome urn shaped finial and resting on a superb scrolled base with a central sea shell motif, acanthus leaf sides and beautifully modelled pomegranite form feet.
