Finely carved mid 19th century Italian giltwood open armchair of wide proportions in the Rococo manner.
Italy, Venice Circa 1860.
The asymmetrical scroll and leaf-carved top rail, centred on a stylised shell within over scrolled uprights, above a newly upholstered grey silk padded and dished seat between scroll-ended arms, raised on a decorative foliate carved scrolling X-frame base with a conforming central stylised shell.

A well proportioned and substantial late 19th century carved mahogany wing-back armchair in the George II manner upholstered in a tan leather.
English circa 1880.
A fine quality and well drawn carved mahogany wing chair inspired by William Kent of the early 18th Century.
Upholstered in a hand dyed natural leather with a feather cushioned seat, having grand proportions making this a very comfortable reading chair.
The shaped sides with scrolled arms being finished with brass stud work, upon a finely carved mahogany base having a central satyr mask surrounded by foliage and ribbons raised on hipped cabriole legs with shell to the knee terminating on ball and claw feet.

A Regency Period Klismos armchair
In the manner of Thomas Hope
Carved from oak, with the typical Klismos construction having sabre back legs, the tapering front legs turned and reeded with baluster capitals; the swooping and curved studded toprail above a scrolling anthemion-carved crossbar; the straight armrests with applied anthemion terminals held by distinctive leopard head supports flanking the caned seat.
English, circa 1815
A seemingly identical armchair can be seen at Ickworth House, acquired by the National Trust in 1956 in lieu of inheritance tax. Another variant appeared on the market, with Temple Williams Ltd, sold circa 1956 to Wilfrid Evill.
