Fine Set of Four Chairs Attributed to André Arbus

About the Item

A fine set of four chairs attributed to André Arbus. The distinctive swept arms and tapered legs are classic Arbus. These chairs are beautifully proportioned with elegant lines and imposing silhouette designed by a master at the height of his career reinventing neoclassical forms. Hand finished and stained to resemble ebony macassar. Presented in original condition these chairs have received a light polish, the original silk upholstery remains, but as expected is heavily stained, marked and torn. Part of a larger set of furniture including a pair of Arbus footstools and four side chairs, sourced from an untouched Parisian apartment decorated in the 1940's containing a collection of Arbus and Leleu design.
