French Tapestry Reclining Armchair, a Veritable Medieval La-Z-boy

About the Item

A rare late 17th century French reclining armchair with a carved walnut stretcher, upholstered in its original verdure tapestry of the period. This is a 400 year old precursor to the La-Z-Boy brand and belongs in a Furniture Museum. As can be seen from the accompanying photographs it has a simple manual 'iron teeth' reclining system that allows the chair back to be tilted almost horizontally. A rare offering.
