About the Item

Its extravagant form offers us a more imaginative interpretation of Godia projecting us into a “Boteriano” world. With the sinuous and voluptuous shapes of the Godia armchair, Gianluca Cozzarolo transforms a seat into an immersive dance of emptiness and fullness, a reference to the forms of nature and aesthetic biomimicry that encloses and protect it from the outside world. Godia was part of Metallica, an exhibition curated by Matteo Cibic that explores metal and its intrinsic qualities—ductility, malleability, reflection, and shine. Through the work of diverse and talented artists and designers, the show fosters new forms of dialogue and symbiosis, giving rise to unprecedented creative expressions. A contemplation on material and its energy, translated into a contemporary aesthetic code that embraces both art and design. Open edition. Standard production time is approximately 8–9 weeks once current stock is sold out. One piece in silver leather and one in gold leather available for immediate delivery. For projects involving multiple units, production time may vary.

Tusk Lounge Chair II in Polished Aluminum, USA, 2022
By Alex Roskin
Located in New York, NY
Todd Merrill Studio has been the exclusive representative of Alex Roskin since 2017. Roskin’s works blend functional design with modernist sculptural references. A natural successor of innovative artists such as Richard Serra, Jean Arp, and Constantin Brancusi, Roskin’s cast bronze, stainless steel, and carved wood works reflects the artist’s modernist and primitive influences. Beginning with a series of quick sketches, Roskin captures the movement of a basic form. By sculpting in foam and wood, Roskin translates that movement into a structural model that is then 3D scanned so that it can then be cast in bronze, aluminum or steel, and finished with carved wood elements. All chairs are offered COM/COL. His works often feature a mammalian physicality with heaving sinuous forms and legs that extend from the body in a bowed fashion. Rejecting outright anthropomorphic mimicry in favor of subtle, sculpted muscular forms, Roskin notes: “I try with each piece to create a stance and a presence, some with more contrapposto. I aim to give each piece a feeling it is inhaling or ready to make a move...
