A very handsome pair of 19th century Anglo-Indian armchairs, showing richly figured padouk wood frames of pegged construction, with caned backs & seats sided by swept armrest atop flaring & reeded supports, raised overall on reeded front supports and squared rear stile supports. Early repairs as noted and observed in the images.

A splendid pair of 19th Century Anglo-Indian carved ebony open arm library chairs; finely carved in solid ebony. From the Galle District, Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The shaped crest rails finely carved with a large central scallop shell flanked by scrolling foliage; above shaped caned backs with styff leaf and reeded frames, having long scrolled arms headed with scroll corbels and terminating within S shaped scrolls. The cane seat with moulded frames and leaf carved front rail with carved large flower head corners.
