The Hanover Armchair

About the Item

Made to order from our Lorfords Contemporary collection, the Hanover is a faithful copy of one of the most beautiful Regency library chairs we have ever owned. Designed and made about the time of the Battle of Waterloo, the original rosewood and leather library armchair just had to be copied. Simple lines, elegance and comfort come together in a timeless and unusual design that is equally at home in a modern apartment or a classical country house library. We build our Hanover armchair up from a hardwood beech frame, using only traditional methods and materials. With hand-tied coil-springs, there is no foam used in the build-up. What makes this sofa so comfortable is the high down content (50% down, 50% feather in seat, and 70% down, 30% feather in back). The down gives the cushion lovely softness, while the feathers provide loft and spring. The castors are individually hand-cast by traditional English metal crafters to a very high standard and a variety of finishes can be achieved. We use an antique brass finish as standard. The legs can be made in a variety of woods and finishes. We use turned and carved, dark oak legs as our standard, as shown here. Mahogany is also an excellent choice for this chair. The Hanover armchair, like all of our models, can be made completely bespoke. We want this to be your perfect armchair. The price excludes fabric. If you need some help finding the perfect fabric, let us know. It takes approximately 6 meters in a plain fabric to cover a standard armchair.
