About

Comprising a three-seat sofa, two-seat sofa and a pair of armchairs, this suite was designed by Illum Wikkelso in 1968 for Holger Christiansen. Illum Wikkelso designed a number of well-known lounge furniture pieces for Holger Christiansen. However, the set listed here was never put into production.

When this suite was made as a prototype of rosewood and leather in 1968, Holger Christiansen was already feeling the economic pressures suffered by all Danish furniture makers during the 1970s. Changing consumer habits meant that young families no longer saved up to buy expensive furniture, instead choosing television, travel and cheaper furniture from Ikea and the like.

About 1970, Holger Christiansen sold this suite to Jens Ole Møller, the son of his landlord and well-known Danish chair designer Niels Otto Moller, owner of JL Moller Mobelfabrik. . Jens Ole Møller used this suite whilst he was running JL Moller until he passed away in the 1990s. Paere Dansk purchased the suite from Jorgen Henrik Moller, who now runs JL Moller.
